Fairlie Healthcare Group is a leading provider of high-quality care which was established in 1999. We specialise in caring for adults with neurological conditions, as well as patients with tracheostomies, and who require ventilator support.
We currently have three homes, Fairlie House which is in West Norwood with 45 beds, Highfield House which is located in Purley with 45 beds and finally, Woodstown House in Banstead with 40 beds, which opened its doors to its first residents in April 2021. All three homes have achieved the highest rating from the Care Quality Commission, and we continually strive to maintain our ‘Outstanding’ rating.
Scope:-
1. To be responsible to take on a generic role and work as an assistant to therapists as part of the multi-disciplinary team, with supervision from qualified therapist(s).
2. To provide general / specific therapeutic care as detailed by therapist for patients with long-term neurological conditions.
3. The post-holder should be demonstrate proficient and competent to work across professional disciplines/ boundaries within a multidisciplinary framework.
Main Responsibilities
Clinical
To be responsible for:
4. Supporting and assisting registered occupational therapists both clinically and administratively in the provision of a high quality clinical service.
5. Working with colleagues of all disciplines in the provision of a multidisciplinary intervention.
6. Working with professional standard of the College of Occupational Therapist.
7. Following research and evidence based practice as they are introduced to the service implementing change as requested by registered occupational therapist.
8. Developing and maintaining their skills and knowledge as required according to the post holder’s grade and post. Also to be responsible for all clinical responsibilities in all aspects in their own practice.
9. Observing and documenting a patient’s participation, reactions, and progress from therapy session. And they should be able to demonstrate high standard of report writing in English.
10. Escorting and planning patients’ for out –patient appointments and ability to carry out basic nursing care (e.g emptying urinary bag, feeding) during appointments.
Essential
11. Ability to work across professional disciplines/ boundaries within a multidisciplinary framework
12. GCSE education level or equivalent
13. Minimum of 1 years’ experience within health & social care
14. Evidence of CPD / post-graduate courses
15. Working efficiently and effectively within long-term neurological conditions clinical environment and ability to use available resources
16. Excellent problem solving & negotiation skills
17. Able to work well under pressure
18. Excellent communication in English and interpersonal skills
19. Ability to interact with a multi—discipline team
20. Willing and motivational attitude
21. Creative with a genuine interest and enthusiasm in the work you do
22. Flexibility to work on a Saturday, Bank Holidays aswell as early/late shifts
23. Ability to travel to other locations as required
Desirable
24. Short courses completed related to therapy
25. NVQ in health & social care
26. Knowledge about neurological conditions
27. 1 years’ experience of working within a team
28. 1 years’ experience of working with challenging behaviours
29. Member of relevant Special Interest Group e.g. ACPIN
