The Role As a Residential Support Worker, youll play a key role in the daily lives of our children and young people. Youll help create a warm, stable, and inspiring environment, supporting them through challenges, encouraging personal development, and celebrating every success. You will have the opportunity to make a real difference to the lives of children and young people and help towards the bright future they deserve attending to their practical, physical, and emotional needs, while safeguarding each young person at all times. You will provide a high standard of care and support, in a professional manner, to vulnerable young people with challenging behaviour and emotional behavioural difficulties. The Residential Worker will contribute to the day-to-day functioning of the home so that the children and young peoples needs are met including support around education, social development, health and well-being. As a Residential Worker, you will have strong experience in developing positive relationships with children and young people to help them understand and process their life experiences, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will follow policies and procedures and work with partner agencies to safeguard children and young people. You will be confident in helping children and young people to understand their strengths and qualities and encourage them to have aspirations for their future. Key Responsibilities Deliver trauma-informed care by understanding and responding to the emotional and behavioral needs of children and young people Facilitate activity-based support, including sports, creative play, and therapeutic interventions to promote wellbeing and development Support young people who may be out of school, encouraging engagement in education and supporting learning in creative ways Help develop age-appropriate life skills and encourage growing independence, tailored to each young persons individual needs Build meaningful relationships with neurodiverse children and young people, adapting communication and support to meet their unique strengths Use the Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) model to help young people develop positive coping strategies and manage challenging emotions ( full training provided ) Carry out key working responsibilities, including keeping clear records, updating care plans, and supporting progress tracking Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure consistent, high-quality care Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive home environment with safeguarding at its core What we are looking for Passionate, caring, and committed individuals who genuinely want to make a difference Individuals who are committed to helping young people who have experienced trauma to build trust and learn new ways to cope People who understand that behaviour is a form of communication, and are dedicated to responding with patience, empathy, and consistency A minimum of 1 year of experience working in a residential care setting ( preferred ) NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (Children and Young People) or equivalent ( preferred ) we will fully fund this qualification if you dont have it yet Full driving license ( preferred ) Willingness to work a varied rota including day, night, weekends, bank holidays, and school holidays.
