Job Description:
Your Role and What You'll Be Doing
* Liaise with Irwin Mitchell (IM) clients who have sustained a serious injury or suffer from a serious illness, providing education, support, signposting, and advocacy. Manage their expectations and support the client and their family through treatment, rehabilitation, or the course of their illness, and assist solicitors in managing the client.
* Ensure a smooth transition of new clients from key NHS services, liaise with medical, therapeutic, and care staff regarding discharge, and provide advice and practical support regarding local services and support available.
* Resolve client issues by building relationships, working collaboratively with relevant bodies, and assisting clients based on their individual needs. Act on referrals from case handlers/lawyers, identify client needs, work autonomously and in partnership with clients and families, and document actions.
* Act as a link between lawyers, public bodies, agencies, charities, NHS, and DWP to ensure effective communication and secure additional services where needed. Provide ongoing support, signposting, coordination, or practical support to clients and families. Ensure clients maximize their statutory welfare entitlements (supported by our Benefits Team).
* Promote our SRC service to NHS Trusts, charities, and outside agencies to encourage referrals. Deliver training and develop links with potential referrers.
* Follow up with clients for feedback to help improve services.
You will join the Specialist Client Services team, working with experienced solicitors recognized for supporting those affected by serious injury and illness.
About You
* Experience within the UK healthcare or social care system.
* Passion for high-quality, client-centered practice.
* Clinician with current registration (e.g., NMC, HCPC).
* Knowledge of healthcare, rehabilitation, welfare policy, and advocacy services.
* Understanding of rehabilitation codes, Mental Capacity Act, and welfare benefits.
* Aware of external stakeholders (Headway, SIA, Aspire).
* Experience in clinical, health/social care, or rehabilitation settings.
* Understanding of complex conditions (e.g., brain, spinal cord injury, orthopaedic injury, birth injury, industrial disease, bereavement).
* Experience working in multiple settings (acute, post-acute, community).
* Experience within an MDT framework.
* Ability to work autonomously and independently.
* Full UK driving license and access to a car for client and stakeholder meetings.
