Location: Central London, with travel to other UK locations expected on a weekly basis.
This role qualifies for a specialist capability‑based pay approach. After assessment at interview, the salary may rise to £62,599. To retain the higher salary, employees must demonstrate and accredit the required skills against the Cyber Technical Framework within the first year; otherwise the pay may revert to the lower end of the range. Progression within the pay range is possible as skills develop.
Responsibilities
* Design, install, configure and manage remote infrastructure such as firewalls, routers, switches and servers.
* Investigate technical issues and work closely with internal stakeholders to meet their unique requirements.
* Contribute to the development and implementation of automation systems and support the administration of a multi‑vendor environment.
* Undertake individual project work in relevant technical areas, aligned with team priorities.
* Optional on‑call rota and coverage when the team is short‑staffed.
* Collaborate with industry colleagues and attend international events such as conferences.
About You
Extensive experience in network engineering within a technical industry environment, with a strong foundation in designing network solutions for large‑scale, mission‑critical infrastructure.
* Network design, architecture and transmission technologies, supporting resilient and high‑performance network solutions.
* Layer 2 and Layer 3 technologies, including protocols, MAC and IP addressing, BGP and VPNs.
* Fibre optic networking – practical experience of wavelengths, multiplexing (MUX), transponders and long‑haul transmission technologies.
* Automation, scripting and systems administration on GNU/Linux operating systems, with tools such as Ansible and scripting languages (Bash, Python).
Practical experience configuring and managing network devices in live environments, applying secure operations and supporting complex infrastructures. An enthusiasm for cyber and global datacentre interconnection is required, with a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
Proven problem‑solving skills and the ability to clearly communicate network concepts to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Comfortable working on cross‑functional projects.
Physical requirement: ability to lift, carry and move equipment; a fitness assessment will be carried out by occupational health as part of the application process.
