You’ll be part of the Ranger Team within the newly created West Birmingham, Wolverhampton and Black Country Portfolio. Primarily based at Moseley Old hall, but you'll also be working at Clent Hills and other portfolio properties when needed. You’ll join a friendly team of four, reporting directly to the Lead Ranger.
With a love for the great outdoors, you’ll enjoy working with nature and want to inspire and motivate others. You’ll help to make habitats for wildlife better and make everyone feel welcome at our places.
This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and contribute to the important work we’re doing. As part of the Ranger team, you’ll need to think about our impact on the environment and how you can help.
The site is open across 7 days a week and this also means that regular weekend and bank holiday working is required, as well as some working across the portfolio properties. You should be willing to work some evenings, and be on call.

What you'll be doing
You’ll be helping to protect and care for habitats, wildlife, buildings and machinery. You’ll pass on your knowledge and enthusiasm to encourage others to love this area as much as you do. Whenever and wherever you come across people, you’ll take the time to talk to them and answer their questions, rather than rushing away to the next task.
In this role, you’ll collaborate with the Lead Ranger to implement newly approved woodland management plans, improve site access, and ensure the overall care of these landscapes.
You'll be delivering forestry-related tasks such as scrub management, woodland thinning operations, and grassland maintenance. You'll carry out practical estate work, including repairing and building new site furniture. You'll be ensuring compliance with appropriate policies and undergoing training and updating documentation. Working closely with volunteers to support conservation, you'll create great visitor engagement. This is a hands-on position where you’ll play a key role in enhancing habitats and visitor experiences across two iconic sites.
You'll be included in the Duty Management rota taking on responsibility for a whole day’s operation across site. You'll be responsible on the day for the smooth running of the property during opening hours, acting as the main contact point for staff, volunteers, and customers in case of emergency, enquiry or complaint.

7. a driver with a full UK driving licence
Criteria for all other applicants:
8. practically experienced in conservation work, to protect and improve habitats and landscapes
9. happy to talk to all kinds of people about the work you’re doing, and why it matters
10. hard-working and willing to learn
11. able to work safely, using risk assessments and following guidelines
12. experienced in managing land, access and conservation, and working outdoors
13. able to use machinery and equipment, with relevant certificates
14. a driver with a full UK driving licence
