Overview
A SEN teacher is needed for a pupil referral unit (PRU) in North London for secondary school students with special educational needs aged 11-16. The role involves working with students who have been permanently excluded from mainstream schools to provide them with qualifications to ensure a successful future. The school is easily accessible from around London with great transport links. You will be part of a highly supportive team with strong senior leadership and excellent resources. Willingness to provide personal care is preferred for this role.
Responsibilities
* Lesson planning and delivery for students with a range of learning difficulties and complex needs. This may include alternative teaching methods, such as Lego therapy and intensive interaction sessions.
* Helping students to develop confidence and independence.
* Implementing behaviour management techniques to maintain a positive and safe learning environment (including physical restraints where appropriate and in line with safeguarding policies.
* Working with specialist teaching services, medical staff, counsellors, and psychologists.
* Being aware of safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of students.
To Be a SEN Teacher, You Will Need
* The right to work in the UK.
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or overseas trained teacher awaiting QTS.
* A clear and up-to-date DBS.
* Experience working as a Teacher in a UK school.
* A patient and can-do attitude.
