What you'll be doing
The Registered Manager will lead and manage the short break service Lowena, in Truro, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred care for person with a learning or physical disability. You will be responsible for maintaining the continuity and consistency of care, ensuring that all activities comply with regulatory and statutory requirements. The role requires strong leadership skills to inspire and manage a dedicated team, and to uphold the highest standards of care and support. With excellent people management skills you will lead a team of direct reports and indirect reports.
About the role
You will have a strong working understanding of safeguarding and risk management processes and CQC’s fundamental standards along with relevant statutory guidance and legislation in place. You will manage staff rotas and bed plans in line with local authority needs assessments, support plans and the needs of the service. You will mentor the staff team and provide guidance on all processes within the home. You will have good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and complete service audits on a regular basis and report to the Senior Leadership Team on KPI’s of the service.
Regulatory Compliance:
1. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation, guidelines, and standards, ensuring the service meets all regulatory requirements.
2. Ensure all necessary documentation, policies, and procedures are maintained and reviewed regularly.
Service Development:
3. Identify opportunities for service improvement and innovation, ensuring the service remains responsive to the needs of service users.
4. Implement and monitor quality assurance processes to continually improve service delivery and outcomes
5. Service Growth - identify areas of potential growth with a view to increasing the offer and value to the people that use the service.
Financial Management:
6. Oversee the financial management of the service, ensuring budgets are adhered to and resources are used effectively.
7. Ensure that financial records are maintained accurately and are compliant with organisational and regulatory requirements.
Health and Safety:
8. Ensure a safe and healthy environment for both customers and staff, adhering to health and safety policies and procedures.
9. Conduct regular risk assessments and implement measures to mitigate potential hazards.
Accountabilities.
10. To be the Registered Care Quality Commission (CQC) Manager for regulated activities within the service and ensure full compliance of the service with CQC Regulations and statutory legislation and supply required data to CQC when requested to participate in CQC Inspection of the service.
11. To be the Mental capacity assessor (MCA) for the service and undertake Assessments, best interest meetings and formally process community DOL applications as needed using appropriate systems.
12. To implement quality assurance frameworks to ensure the service provided maintains the Corserv Care, Cornwall Council and CQC fundamental standards of care.
You will need
The following qualifications and experience are essential:
13. Health and/or Social Care Level qualification or equivalent level of experience equivalent management qualification
14. Leadership and Management qualification
15. Experience of budget and financial management
16. Extensive experience in management position either directly related to short break services or ability to demonstrate transferable skills and learning from other settings
17. Evidence and proven track record of achieving cultural and behaviour changes within teams
18. Evidence of continuous professional development at a Managerial level
Knowledge & Skills
19. Demonstrable and up to date knowledge of the social care sector and the social care regulatory framework
20. Ability to self-assess service provision, identifying gaps and risk, formulating, monitoring and review action plans
21. Experience of leading a team through change to empower a team
22. Good interpersonal skills with an understanding of how to motivate and support team members.
Ability to handle challenging situations with empathy and professionalism
23. Experience of formulating and managing a budget within targets, promoting financial discipline throughout operations
24. Proven track record of meeting KPI’s
25. Experienced in conducting Investigations
26. Experience of service review and development, including Audit
27. You will be customer focussed and passionate about supporting and enabling people to achieve their goals.
28. Ability to promote the service and build and maintain positive relationships with clients and key stakeholders through excellent customer service and positive communication
29. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
30. Good IT skills and ability to learn new software.
31. Experience of resource management
32. Ability to use own initiative and organise workloads of self and other team members effectively
33. Ability to work collaboratively to support the continued development and management of a fast-paced service.
34. Working knowledge of Mental Capacity and Liberty Safeguards
35. Working knowledge of Safeguarding agenda
36. Effective report writing skills
37. Effective IT skills with a willingness to embrace digital development within the service
38. Driving licence, with own transport and must be willing to travel to meetings/training
39. Responsible for Health and Safety within area of work.
