Department: Security ______________ Company: Canary Wharf Management Limited ______________ Reporting to: Security Manager - Operations ______________ JOB SUMMARY To effectively manage and lead a large team of security personnel in order to protect the people, interests, business, assets and well-being of Canary Wharf Group and those working, living or visiting the Estate. Efficiently deploying a variety of resources routinely and during serious incidents to minimise harm to the estate and its users. Salary: £69, 325 Closing Date: 31st May 2025 MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES Operational & Incident Management To be responsible for the operational management, leadership, deployment and administration of an operational shift, working as part of a roster providing a 24/7 presence. Responsible for the implementation, oversight, and compliance of event and operational security plans, ensuring effective security measures are in place, assessed, and maintained for both ad-hoc and daily operations. To manage incidents promptly and effectively, including liaising with Emergency Services and other stakeholders where relevant to bring incidents to a successful resolution. To apply a thorough dynamic risk assessment and professional judgement during incidents to minimise harm to team and others. Identify gaps or weaknesses in event and operational security plans, provide feedback on lessons learned, and offer advice on corrective actions to enhance overall security measures To work with Tenant Companies and others to minimise business disruption in the event of an incident. Communications & Coordination To brief the shift on relevant threats and intelligence daily, deploying resources intelligently based on current threats. To provide such reports and data related to the activity, inputs and outputs of the Security Department, as required by Senior Management. To represent the Security Department at meetings when required. To write any Op Orders, Emergency Procedures, Assignments Instructions or SOP’s as requested by senior management. To provide security advice to colleagues, tenants, residents and visitors as required. To provide a daily briefing of events and incidents in the past 24 hours to Senior Management, highlighting any relevant forthcoming issues and lessons learned. People Management To motivate, develop and mentor a shift consisting of Control Centre Manager, Coordinators, Supervisors and Security Officers (including both inhouse and contract security personnel). To manage and monitor performance of security staff, including professional development, welfare, sickness absence and role competence addressing areas of team and individual performance which fail to reach acceptable levels promptly and appropriately. To ensure that staff are provided with appropriate opportunities and experience, in order to support lateral development and opportunity for promotion/advancement. Conduct disciplinary investigations, performance and absence management processes. To deal promptly and effectively with any complaints raised against team members. Compliance & Quality Assurance To ensure the Security Department operational and administrative policies, procedures and instructions are complied with by all security personnel on shift. To ensure staff are sufficiently trained, capable and subject to the Physical Employment Standards testing. Ensuring all staff hold the relevant SIA license. Addressing any needs with the appropriate team. Enhance and maintain professional standards and appearance, supporting the company brand and fostering a courteous, professional culture at all times Ensure respective team adheres to the departmental exercise and training programme. General Duties To maintain a close working relationship with Directors, Associate Directors, Building Managers and Event Managers and provide support and advice on security matters, when appropriate or required. Act as the senior Company representative for all incidents on the Estate outside of normal working hours, liaising with appropriate Managers/ Directors as necessary. To carry out any other reasonable duties as directed by Senior Management. PERSON SPECIFICATION Demonstratable experience of strong leadership skills and being able to motivate, inspire and manage a large team Demonstratable experience of being able to conduct training and develop large teams Demonstratable experience of personnel management, including dealing with performance, discipline and welfare issues Extensive knowledge of security procedures and protocols, appropriate to a commercially driven environment Must be prepared to work flexible and varied hours, including nights, weekends and bank holidays Demonstratable experience of being able to manage major incidents, utilising large numbers of staff, whilst prioritising effectively Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills.
