We are looking for an Engine Calibration Engineer to work in Dearborn. This role will begin on April, but we will start interviewing for the role at the mid to end of February.
We are specifically looking for an individual experienced/knowledgeable in internal combustion engine calibration. The Calibration Engineer opportunity requires a candidate with strong communication skills as this position will directly interface with the customer and internal teams.
Skill Team Roles:
1. Defines, plans, and performs engine, powertrain calibration and other relevant engineering project work within project team as required.
2. Plans and manages engineering resources according to project requirements.
3. Works on specific phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, preparation of specifications, technical plans, engine testing, vehicle testing, data analysis and validation.
4. Support/ensures data quality and writes technical project reports.
5. Reviews project for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, and customer requirements, including opinions and interpretations.
6. Coordinates activities concerned with technical development, scheduling, and resolving engineering test issues.
7. Defines, executes and supports research and development activities.
8. Participate in customer meetings.
9. Communicates test results, progress and issues as they arise to project team and customer.
10. Participates in powertrain calibration development trips as required.
11. Other duties as required to ensure project success.
Experience and Education
12. Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field
13. Masters' degree preferred
14. years or more experience in engine calibration
The Calibration Engineer is expected to have demonstrated abilities in the following areas:
15. Technical A thorough understanding of Internal Combustion Engines and Powertrain related vehicle systems functionality A basic understanding of IC engine emissions controls components, After Treatment Systems and functionality.
16. Powertrain Calibration development experience with achieving automotive tailpipe emissions standards.
OBD Calibration to achieve automotive OBD requirements: Monitors CCM Catalyst Misfire EGR AFRIM HEGO Etc. OBD Self-Cert Demonstration, Documentation, Statistics and Reporting Green, km, Full Useful Life, OBD limit components WPA and BPU In Use Monitor Performance (IUMPR) Ability to be effective in the following areas: Powertrain Calibration optimization to meet fuel economy and emissions objectives. Vehicle development trip support for hot weather, cold weather and high altitude. Ability to operate effectively in a professional testing environment. Working experience/knowledge/skills of in some or all of the following tools: Etas INCA ATI Vision Vector CANape, CANalyzer Ability to interpret C Code and navigate other software description aids Microsoft Office (required)
