Job Summary
The post holder will be part of the Forensic Community Mental Health Team (FCMHT) and the Adult Clinical Psychology Service within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. The role supports the provision of a psychological service to the community team alongside a registered psychologist. The FCMHT delivers specialist mental health services to individuals presenting as a risk of harm where the risk is linked to an identified mental health difficulty. The post is full‑time 37.5 hours per week.
Responsibilities
* Undertake psychological assessments and risk assessments (harm to self and others) under the clinical supervision of a registered psychologist.
* Develop psychological and risk formulations to inform interventions, including working with the MDT within the FCMHT, rehabilitation wards and secondary services.
* Support the development of risk management and rehabilitation plans and deliver reflective practice and formulation groups.
* Assist with training of other professionals in psychological models, approaches and risk assessment.
* Contribute to service evaluation, research reports and performance reporting.
Qualifications
* Undergraduate degree in psychology or conversion (First or Upper Second Class).
* Graduate Basis for Registration with the BPS.
Experience
* Previous paid experience as an Assistant Psychologist.
* Experience working with complex cases and delivering group and individual psychological interventions.
* Experience assessing and managing risk of harm to self or others.
Desirable
* Masters degree or postgraduate training.
* Accredited training in a psychological model, research design or evidenced‑based therapy.
* Previous experience in forensic mental health services.
* Research assistant experience.

Salary
£31,516 to £38,364 per annum (Band 5).
