South Texas Mental Health Associates is seeking a dedicated bilingual Medical Receptionist to join our team in Edinburg, TX. This is a new start-up position, with the successful candidate starting mid-April.
As a Medical Receptionist, you will serve as the initial point of contact for our organization, providing excellent customer service and administrative support. You will be responsible for managing the front desk area, assisting visitors, answering phone calls, and performing various clerical tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our office.
STMHA is looking for a candidate who has the potential and desire to move into a managerial position as the clinic volume grows.
Requirements
* Create a positive, relaxing, welcoming, and professional atmosphere for patients.
* Communicate clearly, effectively, and succinctly with patients and providers.
* Answer phone calls, take and transmit messages; monitor and respond to voice and email.
* Assist patients with check-in and check-out.
* Assist with intake and screening of new patients.
* Complete various types of paperwork for patients or insurance.
* Accurately document and maintain medical records.
* Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly front office and waiting room.
* Ability to multi-task and manage time independently and in a team setting.
* Schedule appointments and maintain provider schedules.
* Collect patient payments, deductibles, and patient balances.
* Ensure company policies of financial agreements are met.
* Knowledge of general office equipment.
* Data entry of charges and payments.
* Maintain confidentiality and apply strict standards of privacy and HIPAA compliance.
* Other duties as needed to promote high-quality environment and patient care.
* Administer and explain TMS procedures to patients.
* Monitor patients for medical symptoms throughout treatment.
* Provide medical intervention in emergencies, including CPR if indicated; CPR certification must be up-to-date, and certification will be paid for or reimbursed by the employer.
* Act courteously and tactfully with patients, visitors, and the public.
* Maintain patient confidentiality and full compliance with HIPAA.
* Follow established treatment and office procedures.
* Schedule patients for TMS treatments per the Employer’s Clinical TMS Protocol.
* Perform prior authorizations, take co-pays, and verify insurance information.
* Be cross-trained with front office secretary duties to provide coverage when needed.
* Maintain professional appearance, clothing, and bearing at all times; casual clothing such as tank tops, low-cut shirts, shorts, or jeans is not permitted.
* Assist in maintaining clinic cleanliness, including sweeping, dusting, and mopping as outlined in the clinic manual.
* Ensure sanitization procedures occur for equipment between each TMS treatment.
* Perform other tasks as requested by the employer relevant to clinic functioning.

Qualifications
* Bilingual in English and Spanish (required).
* Psychiatric office experience is a plus but not necessary.
* High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training is a plus.
* Proven experience as a front desk secretary or similar role preferred.
* Strong customer service and communication skills.
* Proficiency in office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
* Professional appearance and demeanor.
* Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
* Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
