Job Description
New Directions Education are recruiting for School Cleaners, to cover temporary positions in the Wrexham area. The roles available are long and short-term temporary, covering internal staff absences such as sickness or maternity.
The working hours can vary depending on each school’s specific requirements, School cleaners are usually required to work between 3.30pm and 6.00pm.
School cleaners are responsible for the overall upkeep, maintenance and cleanliness of the school grounds and premises.
Experience within a commercial cleaning role is desirable.

A School Cleaner is responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness throughout the school.
Roles and responsibilities of a School Cleaner
As a School Cleaner, your role may include:
1. Cleaning the school site
2. Vacuuming carpeted areas and washing floors
3. Use of cleaning equipment
4. Emptying and cleaning bins
5. Spot cleaning of spillages
6. Cleaning desks, seats and skirting boards
7. Cleaning toilet areas and replenishing toiletries
8. Cleaning doors and windows
9. Checking stock levels of cleaning materials
10. Reporting all defects/hazards immediately to the caretaker or supervisor.
Skills and experience required to be a School Cleaner
To be a School Cleaner, you should:
11. Have a reasonable level of fitness
12. Be punctual, reliable and trustworthy
13. Be able to manage time effectively
14. Have the ability to work alone and without supervision, or as part of a team
15. Have awareness of health and safety procedures
16. Have reading skills for following instructions
17. Have maths skills for measuring cleaning fluids
18. Be pro-active rather than re-active.
