Assistant Ranger - Cambridge Summary INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY With a love for the great outdoors, you’ll enjoy working with nature and want to make nature restoration happen. You’ll help to make habitats for wildlife better by planting thousands of trees on Wimpole Estate. This is a great opportunity to develop your skills and contribute to the important work we’re doing. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role. What it's like to work here You'll be based at Wimpole Estate. The wider Farm & Countryside team includes 12 team members in a wide range of roles and you will report to the Farm & Countryside Manager. It is a busy estate, with lots going on. We manage over 700ha of woodland, grassland and arable farmland as well as over 500 livestock and equines. Wintertime is particularly busy for our nature conservation work. This winter we will be planting 19,000 hedgerows tress alongside over 2km of hedge laying and coppicing and our woodland thinning. What you'll be doing You'll be focused on delivering hedge planting across the estate as part of a 10-year Hedgerow Restoration Project. You'll prepare and plant nearly 6,000 trees across 9 locations. There's a lot to get done this winter and we work in all weathers to make sure that we make it happen for nature. You'll be driving tractors with trailers, using power tools and hand tools and coordinating with others teams to deliver the programme before the weather warms up in March.
