As a Night Driver you will be responsible for safely and efficiently transporting in-flight catering items, equipment, and supplies to and from aircraft during night shifts, ensuring timely and accurate delivery in compliance with airline and airport regulations. You will drive a designated route, with responsibility for catering and stripping the aircraft overnight.
Shifts: Rotating 12 hour Shifts 4 on 4 off
Hours: Various between 3/4/5 pm start times; you must be able to work all 3 shifts on rotation
Rate: £18.70 per hour
Overtime: 1.2 of hourly rate after the completion of 173 hours in the payroll calendar month (16th of each month up to and including 15th of the next month)

* Roles and Responsibilities
* Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections as standard security and safety protocol and report any issues immediately.
* Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the vehicle and loading areas.
* Comply with Food Safety and Hygiene protocols and ensure vehicle refrigeration is switched on.
* Ensure vehicle is security checked and sealed by an authorised staff member before departure with completed specified documentation.
* Drive high-loader catering trucks and other vehicles to deliver meals and supplies to aircraft during night operations.
* Load aircraft as per the galley plans and adhering to company policy.
* Work in accordance with airport, airline and Newrest requirements and safety procedures.
* Load and unload catering on and off the truck at the unit and aircraft in a safe and timely manner.
* Return catering to the unit and ensure it is offloaded in the designated area.
* Always drive adhering to airport, DVLA and local rules and/or law.
* Drive onto aircraft as per your training, ensuring you do not deviate from it at any point.
* Refuelling vehicles as and when required.
* Report any incidents and accidents to your Line Manager and report all hazards/near misses in line with Newrest requirements.
* Minor maintenance of vehicles (e.g., top-up screen wash, AdBlue).
* Ensure your Tachograph is used correctly for every trip and in compliance with Road Traffic Regulations.
* Delivering and collecting from various destinations in the UK when requested.
* Interact with colleagues and clients on site in a professional manner.
* Essential Skills
* Valid UK HGV Category C (Class 2) licence.
* Valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence).
* Digital Tachograph card.
* Previous experience in airline catering, logistics, or customer service preferred, but not essential.
* A team player who can effectively manage conflicting priorities in a fast-paced environment without sacrificing quality.
* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Physically fit and capable of working at heights, in indoor fridge temperatures around 5 degrees, in all outdoor weather conditions and fast-paced environments.
* Lift and/or push up to 25kg.
* Operational awareness with a good understanding of HACCP, COSHH, DDA, Food Hygiene, Health and Safety and DFT requirements.
* Must be flexible to work shifts as operations run seven days a week (including evenings and public holidays); you may be required to extend shifts depending on airside operational requirements.
