Depot Manager required with recycling experience to cover operations of two recycling facilities, one in Northern England, the other in the Scotland Central Belt (c25 staff on each). These sites form part of a global recycling business offering excellent career prospects, salary, and benefits which include a company car/allowance, pension, bonus, etc.
Overall Purpose of the Role:
* To take responsibility for the safe running of two depots
* Responsible for Health and Safety & compliance with all statutory requirements
* Overall management responsibility for all operational employees at the depots
* Driving efficiencies, profitability / EBITDA
* Deliver the vision and strategy for the depot
* Work collaboratively with the central commercial team to support national / contractual opportunities
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
* Drive H&S performance
* Manage and develop our people to support learning, improvement, support, and progression
* Handle all operational site recruitment, people management, training & development, and related HR tasks
* Maintain the compliance programme
* Ensure resources are fully utilised and effective
* Promote the company's reputation and services locally
* Ensure strict compliance with Group Competition and Compliance Rules
* Oversee procurement of raw materials at the depot, in collaboration with the central commercial team
* Develop new business opportunities locally, bid for new work, and develop innovative supply solutions in cooperation with the central Commercial team
* Optimize material sales from the depot within pre-agreed supply volume targets
* Focus on driving volumes and spreading targets annually
* Authorize commercial contractual agreements following group sign-off rules
* Manage site purchase orders and spend according to policy
* Propose and manage capex programmes
* Produce monthly KPIs for the depot
* Identify efficiencies for the fleet
* Manage third-party transport for cost-effectiveness and efficiency
* Oversee preventative maintenance and defect reporting
* Handle enquiries and challenges per company procedures, liaising with other departments
* Provide accurate month-end reporting and KPI analysis
This role requires on-site presence 5 days per week, shared between two sites, with occasional travel for meetings and training.
Personal Skills and Qualifications:
* Positive, proactive attitude
* Promote a positive culture, health, and safety awareness
* Understanding of permitting and waste management licences for Scotland and England
* Experience in project management related to groundworks, equipment, or concrete works (desirable)
* CPC holder
* Excellent communication skills
* Willing to challenge processes and suggest improvements
* Full driving licence
* Experience with SAP / Navision / Excel
