Working as an integral part of the Research Team at the BDU you will be essential for the daily running of the facility. Ensuring clinical and regulatory compliance, and that each donor journey and their individual experience is to the highest standard is vital for this role.

You will carry out blood draws, and other sample collection as required, and will work as part of the team in ensuring donor selection and sample collection are delivered to time and target. You will work with a range of study stakeholders, as well as donors, including scientists, research teams, the GSK team and the EMS Head Office team, therefore effective communication and team working skills are essential. You will be involved in ensuring that the research undertaken safeguards the well-being of participants and is undertaken within ICH Good Clinical Practice guidelines, and all other applicable research regulations.

Location: Stevenage

Days per week: Thursday - 1 day per week

Salary: £14.86 per hour (6 hour working day)

Requirements

Main Duties

· Managing scientists sample orders on a daily basis

· Book donor appointments to suit the demand of scientists requirements

· Making regular contact with donors to understand availability

· Updating donor records with availability, medication and personal information

· Arranging couriers for transportation of samples as appropriate

· Manage and maintain donor database as required

· Manage incoming enquires

· Undertake unit cleaning as required

· Contribute to the development and maintenance of procedures and operating procedures

· Assist senior phlebotomist with additional duties as required

· Welcoming participants to the facility and taking the participants through each stage of the process, including greeting them, gaining informed consent, taking the blood sample (or relevant specimen) and ensuring all paperwork and computer system information is completed accurately.

· Adhere to the study protocol, specific process documents and standard operating procedures to ensure efficient, safe, and high-quality project delivery and management

· Ensure compliance with EMS’ Environmental Policy, principles, and ethics

· Support any other duties/activities required for the efficient running of the facility

· Ensuring the entire facility is kept to a high standard

and adhering to the COVID-19: Infection prevention and control (IPC)

Role Accountabilities

· Adhering to Good Clinical Practice guidelines, data protection and research governance frameworks, regulations, and sponsor requirements

· Gaining participant informed consent and ensure each participant journey is of the highest standard.

· Taking responsibility for the proper collection, receipt, processing, and data entry of all specimens

· Maintaining equipment accountability and general housekeeping of the BDU

· Demonstrate excellent communication skills and team work to deliver high quality research and participant experience.

· Possessing exceptional time management and organisational skills

· Ensuring the entire facility is kept to a high standard, including but not limited to cleanliness of clinical areas and workstations

Experience

· Experienced phlebotomist or other HCP with phlebotomy skills

· Experienced and skilled in the practice of venipuncture – with an up-to-date training history

· Good Clinical Practice (GCP) training is desirable

· Informed Consent experience and an up-to-date training history is desirable

· Experience in the conduct of clinical trials is desirable

Other Requirements

· Full UK residency and hold a valid driving license and have suitable transport provisions (public transport is not recommended due to location of offices)

· Able to travel throughout the UK and Overseas if required.
