As one of South West London's largest teaching hospitals, we offer a unique opportunity to expand your clinical knowledge. Our status as an Acute Trust ensures you'll be exposed to a diverse range of medical conditions, allowing pharmacists to develop a breadth of clinical expertise. Additionally, we're home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre and our dedicated paediatric hospital at St Helier provides valuable opportunity to work with a diverse patient population and encounter an extensive array of medical conditions.

Main duties of the job

Assist the Lead Pharmacist, Formulary and Medicines Optimisation in the development of the SouthWest London joint formulary and guidelines and the implementation of National and Local guidelines related to medicines. Provide a comprehensive and efficient pharmaceutical service in accordance with the required standards of quality and professional practice to meet the needs of the patients, the Pharmacy Department and Integrated Care Boards (ICB).

This position is full‑time with a requirement for 37.5 hours of work per week, including participation in seven‑day working and on‑call rotas.

In addition, we provide more specialist services, in particular renal and neonatal intensive care, to a wider area, covering parts of Sussex and Hampshire.

Qualifications, Experience and Skills

  • Certificate in clinical pharmacy (at least 12 months complete and working towards 18 months)
  • Membership of Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain
  • Full Diploma in Clinical Pharmacy or equivalent
  • Management training
  • Post registration UK hospital experience (min 18 months)
  • Experience of providing services to a broad variety of patients
  • Demonstrate evidence of good clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Experience in medicines management/optimisation
  • Management of staff / Staff appraisal
  • Knowledge of CMM (formerly JAC) pharmacy computer system
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Good organisational skills, self and others.
  • Ability to motivate self and others
  • Clinical governance and risk management
  • Ability to implement and manage change
  • Experience of contributing to or leading on the writing of trust guidelines, policies and procedures

Salary

£55,524 to £62,652 a year. Pro‑rate pay inc Outer (HCAS).
