Software Engineer (Full Stack Developer, DV Eligible)
Location: London, UK (Hybrid – remote and client site as required)
Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £45,000 – £65,000 (depending on experience)
About the Opportunity
Sanderson is partnering with an emerging workflow and AI orchestration consultancy working at the forefront of public-sector modernisation. This fast-growing company delivers secure, cloud-native software solutions that transform how government and national security organisations manage data, automate processes, and deliver critical services.
They’re now looking for Full Stack Developers (from early-career engineers to experienced senior developers) to join their expanding delivery team. You’ll play a hands-on role in designing and building scalable, event-driven applications, contributing to architecture decisions, and shaping both the technical direction and culture of a rapidly scaling consultancy.
If you’re a software engineer who loves to code, but also values collaboration, creativity, and the opportunity to help shape a company from the ground up - this is the role for you.
Key Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications using Java Spring Boot and React
* Build microservice-based systems with a strong focus on scalability and resilience
* Work with modern technologies including Kubernetes, AWS, and Azure
* Contribute to workflow and orchestration solutions using Camunda and BPMN
* Design and optimise data structures and queries in PostgreSQL and MongoDB
* Collaborate closely with business consultants, product owners, and architects to translate complex requirements into elegant, secure software solutions
* Support the implementation of DevOps and CI/CD practices to improve automation and delivery
* Engage with clients and internal teams - applying strong communication and consulting skills to influence outcomes and share expertise
* Help grow the engineering culture: mentor others, contribute ideas, and lead by example in a collaborative, low-ego environment
Essential Skills & Experience
* Strong experience with Java (Spring Boot) and React
* Familiarity with containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes)
* Understanding of microservice architecture and domain-driven design
* Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, MongoDB)
* Knowledge of cloud platforms, ideally AWS and/or Azure
* Strong communication and collaboration skills - comfortable engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
* Motivated, adaptable, and proactive mindset with an enthusiasm for working in a dynamic start-up environment
Desirable Skills
* Experience with Camunda and BPMN modelling
* Exposure to CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code, and DevOps automation
* Experience working in or delivering to public-sector or secure environments
* Understanding of agentic AI, workflow automation, or process optimisation
* Existing SC or DV clearance (or eligible to undergo vetting)
Security Clearance Requirements
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be eligible for national security clearance (DV).
To meet this requirement, applicants must:
* Be sole British citizens (dual nationality not permitted)
* Have not spent more than 30 consecutive days outside the UK in the past 10 years
* Have no criminal record
* Have no significant financial irregularities (e.g. bankruptcy or unresolved debts)
Unfortunately, candidates who do not meet these criteria cannot be considered for this position.
