We are looking for a Procurement Specialist, to join our EDF Heat Pumps team, at our Clacton on Sea Site.
In this role:
You will join the Commercial team and be responsible for purchasing direct goods necessary for operational success and indirect goods and services, focusing on driving value creation and maintaining cost control.
You will be accountable for:
* Preparing and conducting negotiations with suppliers for the direct materials and services as per agreed supplier list and sourcing strategies; undertake market scanning to support the provision of options to the Technical team
* Where relevant, identifying and leveraging EDF group procurement synergies.
* Coordinating supplier onboarding, with the support of the centralised EDF team where appropriate, ensuring appropriate due diligence has been conducted in particular in line with Health & Safety and cyber security requirements
* Supporting implementation of procurement initiatives and projects, and creating future sourcing strategies
* In collaboration with Operational colleagues, tracking and reporting on key performance indicators (KPIs) related to supplier performance and overall procurement effectiveness
* Supporting P&L owners with timely analysis and resolutions to issues relating to invoicing, claims, disputes, contract amendments and variations.
* Owning the supplier relationship management process including scheduling meetings, management updates and holding suppliers accountable for their performance.
* Ensuring procurement processes are followed. Where deviations occur, the reasons for these are defined in advance and understood. You will ensure these risks are understood and mitigated to an agreed level through effective contracts, processes and professional relationships with key suppliers and contractors.
* Safeguarding the company by ensuring all procurement processes are transparent and compliant with internal policies and external regulations, with particular focus on driving ethical and sustainable sourcing practices.
* Ensuring third party suppliers and contractors both understand and work in alignment with our health, safety, environment and quality practices and standards.
* Working collaboratively with the wider EDF Supply Chain team and business colleagues to create a great place to work.
To be great in this role you will:
· Have a strong understanding of procurement processes, including strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier relationship management.
· Experience in developing and implementing strategies for direct materials. MRO experience is helpful but not essential
· Excellent negotiation skills with a proven track record of successfully negotiating contracts across various sectors or functions.
· Ability to analyse costs and identify cost-control opportunities
· Exhibit a service-oriented and stakeholder-focused mindset, with the ability to anticipate needs, build strong relationships, and deliver value through proactive communication and collaboration.

· An education to degree standard is required, or a demonstration of ability to the same level delivered in a working environment. Hold a relevant procurement qualification or demonstrate equivalent expertise gained through experience.
