Reporting to the Head of Underwriting Exposure Management and Short-tail Pricing, the Pricing Actuary will be responsible for developing and maintaining pricing models, supporting individual account pricing, and working in close collaboration with underwriting and actuarial teams to evaluate risk, enhance portfolio performance, and support strategic decision-making.
Duties and responsibilities:
* Work with the Property and Specialty underwriting teams to provide pricing and deal analysis support, including pricing model development and individual reinsurance treaty pricing.
* Deliver pricing MI and insights to the Senior Management team.
* Support broader actuarial and underwriting objectives including reserving and capital modelling as required.
* Provide analytical support to senior management and the Chief Actuary.
* Incorporate and share best practices regarding pricing models, techniques, and research with others in the Company.
* Contribute to the review and enhancement of pricing documentation, procedures, and policies.
* Assist in the development of junior actuarial staff.
Qualifications and experience:
* Bachelor’s, or Postgraduate, Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Economics, Statistics or other relevant numerate subject.
* Possession of, or active pursuit of an internationally recognized actuarial designation with an internationally recognized association
* Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the (re)insurance industry, with a focus on pricing.
* Demonstrated ability to build and enhance pricing models, and collaborate closely with actuarial and underwriting teams to analyse and evaluate risks and present pricing insights.
* Experience in individual account pricing and portfolio management in partnership with underwriters.
* Proficiency in data manipulation using tools such as SQL, and in analyzing internal and external datasets for pricing and portfolio optimization.
* Ability to use external pricing software effectively (such as HX, Tyche Pricing System, Radar etc.).
* Programming experience in Python, R, R Shiny, and VBA.
* Understanding of pricing governance, including model review, methodology, and assumption management.
* Understanding of broader actuarial functions such as business planning, aggregation monitoring, pricing MI reporting, input to reserve reviews, outwards reinsurance and rate monitoring.
* Ability to work cross-functionally across actuarial, underwriting, and other teams.
* Good analytical, qualitative and quantitative, problem-solving skills.
* Team player with strong collaboration skills, excellent written and oral communication skills.
