Purpose of the Role
To assemble and tack steel components into products as per layout, drawings, diagrams, work orders, weld procedures, or verbal instructions by using electric arc welding equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Assemble various steel components in compliance with EN1090 EXC 2 and EXC 3 standards, ensuring dimensional control and weld set-up parameters are met.
Perform drilling and tapping of holes in steel structures.
Carry out Oxy-Acetylene cutting operations.
Work primarily with large and medium scale carbon steel fabrications; stainless steel experience is desirable.
Support steel fabrication projects, preferably within Infrastructure, Oil & Gas, or Offshore Wind sectors.
Opportunity to progress to a Cell-Leader role through demonstrated ability and leadership.
Candidate Requirements
Previous experience in steel fabrication is essential.
Knowledge of EN1090 standards and welding preparation techniques.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and work instructions accurately.
Experience or familiarity with carbon steel and preferably stainless steel fabrication.
Ability to complete practical fabrication tasks during interview, such as:
Notching beams and adding plates
Cutting hatches into tubular steel
Marking out on tubes and plates
Willingness to comply with company drug and alcohol policy including testing.
Salary and Working Hours
NAECI Agreement Rates:
Standard hourly: £19.04 - £20.01
Overtime A: £26.66 - £28.01
Overtime B: £34.27 - £36.02
Fabricator Proficiency Pay scheme: earn up to £1.50 extra per hour through skills development.
Working hours:
Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm
Friday: 8:00am – 2:30pm
38 hours per week, with regular overtime (currently 10 hours per week and increasing).
