This is a full or part time role, we can be flexible to work with you! We want to ensure our colleagues get an excellent work/life balance and so we have no OOH, no on calls and only require weekend cover for holidays which works out as 1 in 6 or 1 in 8.
You will have a good experience of veterinary nursing, excellent customer service and communication skills, be an effective team player and able to use your own initiative when required. The key to your success will be your ability to embrace all aspects of the role, delivering excellent patient and client care. No two days are the same at our practice so you should enjoy the variety the role will bring. You will not necessarily need to have experience with the broad range of cases seen in the practice but would need to be a fast learner who is keen to get involved in all parts of the job. We support any team members who are interested in developing their skills.
You’ll be supported by our strong team of 3 vets, 2 nurses, 5 receptionists, practice manager and a deputy practice manager. They are led by Partner and vet, Nikolay Radev who graduated in 2006 at Trakia University in Bulgaria. He has gained experience with large animals in Finland before working with pigs in Minnesota for 2 years, and the UK for a further 18 months. More recently Nikolay began working with small animals in 2009 and then became Partner of Portishead Vets4Pets, building a fantastic reputation within the local community.
Our well-equipped surgery is purpose built to industry leading standards and you’ll get use of our x-ray, dental x-ray, multi-parameter, capnograph, v-gels, ultrasound, latest blood machines and DNA testing. We see a good variety of cases with a split of 45% dogs, 45% cats, 10% exotics, and a large amount of our loyal client base are insured.
We’re based on the busy Wyndham Retail Park in Portishead, just minutes away from Junction 19 on the M5, and Bristol and its airport within easy commute. If you like to spend your free time outdoors, Portishead is a pretty, coastal town, with plenty of walks and its own beach with nearby lighthouse!
