What’s the role?
* Be the expert and main point of contact for all things governance, compliance, and risk management across the Council's Pension Fund.
* Shape and deliver the Fund’s regulatory framework, ensuring we meet and exceed standards set by the Pensions Regulator.
* Advise and collaborate with the Pension Committee, Local Pension Board, senior leaders, and external partners.
* Lead on GDPR compliance, policy development, audit recommendations, risk management, and contract oversight.
* Drive continuous improvement and innovation, championing best practice and efficiency in everything you do.
* Represent the Council at the highest level, building strong relationships and influencing outcomes that matter.
What are we looking for?
* Extensive experience in defined benefit pension scheme governance, ideally within the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS).
* Deep knowledge of pension regulations, risk management, and compliance standards.
* Proven ability to lead on complex projects, manage competing priorities, and deliver tangible results in a fast-paced environment.
* Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
* A relevant professional qualification (e.g., IPPM, PMI, CII) and a passion for public service.
