Role Summary

The Sales & Estimating Manager plays a key role in driving business growth and strengthening our market position. This role combines strategic planning with hands-on management of the estimating and sales functions. You will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, nurturing client relationships, and overseeing all tender and quotation submissions—ensuring that every proposal reflects both competitive pricing and company profitability. Working hours are Monday to Thursday 8am to 5pm and Friday 8am to 4pm.

Key Responsibilities

Review all tender and quotation requests, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.

Manage, assign, and mentor estimator(s) to ensure accuracy in cost build-ups and margins.

Review tenders and quotes prior to submission to maintain quality and profitability.

Meet with clients to discuss tenders, develop relationships, and identify new business opportunities.

Develop strategic plans to build and maintain a strong project pipeline.

Prospect for potential clients and convert opportunities into new business.

Conduct pre-contract checks and negotiations prior to project handover.

Attend pre-contract meetings alongside the Head of Projects and client representatives.

Knowledge & Experience Required

Proven experience in departmental management.

Excellent influencing and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently at all levels.

Strong estimating, costing, budgeting, and financial skills.

Ability to make informed decisions under pressure.

Sound knowledge of British Standards relevant to the fire and security industry.

Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint).

Minimum 5 years’ demonstrable experience in fire and/or security sales.

Proven track record in business development and achieving sales targets.

Self-motivated with strong organisational and time management skills.

Excellent presentation skills, capable of explaining technical concepts clearly.
