Children's Team Manager
Are you a compassionate and strategic leader with a strong background in child protection social work? We are currently seeking a dedicated Mou Children's Team Manager to oversee the First Contact/MASH team in Durham on a 12-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a vital multi-agency team that plays a crucial role in safeguarding children and supporting families.
About the Role:
The Mou Children's Team Manager will be responsible for managing a team of social workers and first contact officers, ensuring effective operation of the MASH (Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub). The successful candidate will guide the team through periods of change, promote effective communication, and foster a positive working environment. You will support Durham’s safeguarding partners by sharing vital information, making evidence-based decisions, and ensuring responsive and timely interventions for children and families.
This role requires confidence in risk identification and response, excellent decision-making skills, and extensive experience in child protection social work. You will work closely with three dedicated social work consultants who will support your management responsibilities.
Candidate Responsibilities:
* Lead and support a team of social workers and first contact officers within the MASH team
* Facilitate effective communication with staff, partner agencies, and stakeholders
* Interpret data, information, and intelligence related to safeguarding cases
* Ensure timely and evidence-based decision-making
* Maintain high standards of practice in accordance with safeguarding protocols
* Foster a positive and collaborative team environment
* Manage the team through periods of organizational change
* Adhere to strict timescales and multi-agency procedures
* Respond confidently to risks and complex child protection issues
Candidate Requirements:
* Proven experience in child protection social work
* Strong leadership and management skills in a social care environment
* Excellent communication, decision-making, and risk assessment abilities
* Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-agency setting
* Relevant social work qualification and registration
* Experience supporting and mentoring social work teams

* 37.66 LTD inclusive of holiday pay or 28.72
