Registered Manager – Children’s Residential Home Salary: Base £53,000 with potential to earn up to £60,800 through bonuses Hours: 40 per week Location: Haverhill, Suffolk Overview Compass Associates are working with a respected Ofsted-regulated provider of children’s services to recruit a Registered Manager for a new 4-bed children’s residential home in Haverhill. This is a unique opportunity to lead a brand-new service, ensuring high standards of care for young people aged 11-17 who present with challenging behaviours. The Candidate The Registered Manager will take responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the home, including care delivery, staff management, regulatory compliance, and strategic planning. The role requires strong leadership and the ability to create a safe, supportive, and structured environment for young people. The successful candidate will demonstrate practical leadership in childcare, oversee staff supervision and development, and ensure compliance with Ofsted and legislative standards. Close liaison with external agencies and professionals will be expected, with a consistent focus on achieving the best outcomes for young people. Essential Criteria * NVQ Level 3 in Caring for Children and Young People (or equivalent) * NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management (or commitment to complete) * Minimum 2–3 years’ experience in a management role within children’s residential care * Experience of working with young people aged 11–17 with challenging behaviour * Strong leadership and communication skills * Knowledge of the Children’s Act 1989, Care Standards Act 2000, safeguarding, and Ofsted regulations * Driver with full UK licence * Clear enhanced DBS Salary and Benefits * Base salary £53,000 with potential earnings up to £60,800 * Ofsted bonuses: £3,000 for Outstanding, £1,500 for Good * Full occupancy bonus of £400 per month * Company car or travel allowance of £3,000 * 32 days annual leave including bank holidays, rising by one day per year for the first three years * Workplace pension scheme following probation * Mobile phone provided * Local parking permit * Six-month probation period * Three-month notice period (except for disciplinary or malpractice matters) Location The role is based in Haverhill, Suffolk.
