Our Client has a requirement for a Lead Civil & Structural CAD Designer, who will be required to work on a contract basis in Aberdeen
Role Purpose:
To lead the production and development of civil and structural CAD design deliverables for pipeline and infrastructure projects. The role will involve creating and developing 3D models, technical drawings, and design sketches across all project stages from Concept through to Detailed Design.
Working as part of a multi-discipline engineering team, you will ensure design outputs are delivered to high technical standards, within budget, and in accordance with project schedules and applicable codes and standards.
Job Role Responsibilities:
* Prepare civil and structural design solutions across Concept, FEED, and Detailed Design stages.
* Produce 2D and 3D design deliverables for civil, structural, temporary works, and permanent works.
* Develop models and drawings using:
o Aveva E3D for BIM modelling and drawing extraction.
o Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD for civil design elements.
* Work within a Common Data Environment (CDE).
* Support construction sequencing, 4D simulation, and clash detection activities (desirable).
* Ensure all draughting activities are completed within project budget and programme constraints.
* Maintain technical integrity and compliance with relevant standards, codes, and procedures.
* Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to define and manage design interfaces.
* Liaise with internal teams, clients, vendors, and stakeholders.
* Maintain awareness of current industry codes and standards and apply them to design work.
Experience / Skills / Knowledge / Qualifications:
* Qualified to City & Guilds, HNC, or HND level (or equivalent).
* Professional qualification such as EngTech or IEng (ICE) is advantageous.
* Proven experience in civil and structural CAD design and detailing.
* Strong knowledge of:
o Foundation design
o Below-ground infrastructure
o Drainage systems
o Cable ducting
o Steelwork and concrete structures
* Reinforced concrete detailing experience is highly desirable.
* Experience of 4D simulation, construction sequencing, and clash detection software is beneficial.
* Strong communication skills with the ability to manage and delegate design tasks effectively.
