We have an exciting new role within our company as a Product Engineer. As part of this role you will play a critical role in bridging the final stages of R&D and manufacturing. You will be responsible for implementing, optimizing, and scaling our production processes, ensuring high quality, compliance, and efficiency at every stage. The successful candidate will work closely with design engineers, quality assurance, suppliers, and contract manufacturers to bring our products to life—and into the hands of care professionals and patients. Silver Lion Innovations is a startup medical device company which exists to transform the lives of people facing immobility across multiple health conditions and the people involved in their care. We’ve seen this first-hand as our first product, EasyOver, is inspired by a close family member of the founder who has Parkinson’s. Healthcare systems globally need innovative technologies created by people using them so that they can continue the care for the growing number of those requiring it. Position Overview It is an exciting time to come and work with us, taking the mature design of our cutting edge medical device and managing the setup of a scalable manufacturing process through to a delivered product. This will involve liaising with our engineering, software and compliance teams as well as establishing and maintaining relationships with suppliers to create a stable supply chain. Additionally, you will develop an in-depth knowledge of the product to oversee a successful launch and ongoing service of products in the field. What you’ll do as a Product Manufacturing Engineer ● Process Development: End to end development, analytics, and improvement of manufacturing processes for full scale new product introduction with manufacturing partners ● Set-up: Select and define components for quotation and production ● New Product Introductions (NPI): Work on NPI, sustaining ongoing production and managing supply chain, as well as contributing to R&D and operations. ● Problem-Solving: Ability to identify and resolve product and/or production issues & constraints (relieving bottlenecks), conduct statistical process analysis to ensure optimal production efficiency ● Lean Methodologies: Understand lean principles to ensure continuous improvement and time reduction ● Financial Acumen: Handle cost estimation, make tooling recommendations, and improve workflow efficiency to optimise production costs. ● Documentation: Create and maintain process documentation to ensure standardisation, traceability, and compliance with industry regulations. ● Communication: Provide technical support and build strong working relationships with internal teams, customers, and suppliers What we're looking for from you: ● Relevant experience in production or process engineering, ideally in a regulated industry (medical devices, pharmaceuticals, aerospace, etc). ● Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related field. ● Experience in developing and managing supply chains ● Familiarity with GMP ● Familiarity with CAD software and advanced data analysis tools (SolidWorks, Excel, Python, Minitab, etc.) ● Positive attitude towards overcoming challenges and finding innovative solutions. ● Excellent communication and teamwork skills including ability to communicate concepts in a non-technical way – as well as both oral and written communication to articulate and explain technical understanding ● Be able to self-motivate and be comfortable with having autonomy to make decisions ● An understanding of cross functional/commercial business processes and their impact to achieving overall goals ● Ability to interact effectively with customers and suppliers ● Understanding of capability and/or process development Specific knowledge or experience that are nice to ‘haves’: please let us know which applies to you or anything else that may be relevant to this role ● Experience working in early-stage medical device companies ● Understand Six Sigma methodologies Benefits: ● Salary and benefits package based on experience and skill set ● Opportunity to work on impactful projects that make a difference to people's lives ● Be part of product development at a key time ● Relaxed and collaborative working environment ● Flexible working arrangements, including hybrid office-based work in Glasgow.
