As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will:
1. Work closely with all other members of the Pharmacy team to provide and excellent level of service to our patients and other departments within the hospital
2. Manage stock control of all medicines and other items within the Pharmacy Department
3. Be responsible for the procurement of pharmaceutical stock for the Pharmacy using appropriate electronic systems
4. Receive and check bulk orders of medicines from our wholesalers, dealing with problems that arise in a timely and efficient fashion
5. Deal with delivery and invoice queries related to the medicines ordered and received
6. Distribute medicines to wards and departments within the hospital to ensure timely and effective patient treatment
7. Assist in the dispensing of medicines within our dispensary, to ensure the timely and safe supply of medicines to patients
8. Represent the Pharmacy team at our staff forum
As a Pharmacy Assistant, you will have:
9. Good standard of general education, with proven literacy and numeracy
10. 4 GCSEs including English, Maths and a Science or equivalent
11. Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Pharmacy Service Skills (or GPhC recognised equivalent qualification), or a willingness to work towards this qualification which would be commenced in the workplace within 3 months of employment and completed within agreed timescale
12. Experience of handling goods and stock management
13. IT skills and computer literacy
14. Excellent communication and team-working skills
15. Ability to problem solve
Previous Pharmacy or healthcare experience is advantageous but not essential for this role. We would welcome applicants from a community pharmacy background looking for a new role in hospital pharmacy.
