Based at the Pibwrlwyd Campus, the faculty is particularly active in working with external partners and delivering to community and local industry provisions. The Faculty area is looking to appoint a dynamic, forward-thinking lecturer who has the vision and drive to expand the future direction of the business and management provision at Coleg Sir Gar|Colg Ceredigion. Undertaking curriculum planning and delivery of ILM Level 2 - Level 7, the successful applicant will prepare learning materials, assess learner work, monitor progress and contribute to the quality assurance of the provision. We seek an enthusiastic and determined ILM lecturer who will engage learners with the subject and prepare for assessment. A degree in Business or a related subject is essential. Candidates who have experience in teaching adult learners in similar settings and who possess a qualified teaching status would be preferred. Key Responsibilities You will be required to: Undertake the planning, teaching, assessment and coordination of ILM qualifications Level 2-7. Undertake duties required of this role, e.g. quality assurance, Learning Programme/Annual Programme Review writing, validation requirements, etc. Complete verifier qualification within a year of appointment (if unqualified). Assume the role of Course Tutor if appropriate. Contribute to developing and delivering new courses and creating a culture of innovation. You will be required to:- Contribute to all forms of pedagogic work, including classroom teaching, tutorial work and associated outreach duties, residential, open and distance learning courses and learner work placements. This typically entails associated organisational and administrative work, preparation and assessment, internal verification, learner targets and tracking, learner support, appropriate welfare, and academic counselling responsibilities. Contribute to managing the curriculum within your programme area to include interviewing and guidance, induction, initial assessment, and meet targets on retention, attendance and successful completion. Participate and contribute to aspects of curriculum development within the faculty, the college and with partner schools, other educational establishments, stakeholders and employers. Be involved in and adhere to all aspects of the curriculum area's quality control systems and cycle, including the internal verification/moderation of assessed work, ensuring deadlines are met. Contribute to the learning programme evaluation report and regularly update the quality development plan. Where appropriate, Execute the role of a Programme Co-ordinator, e.g., Learning Programme Co-ordinator and Course Leader. Participate in the assessment, recording and reporting of learners’ work and progress and communicate and consult with parents/carers of learners and/or employers when required. Where appropriate, liaise with registry/examinations/campus office to effectively administer examinations and external assessments. Where appropriate, invigilate examinations and assessments. Maintain good order and discipline amongst all learners inside and outside the classroom. Record and monitor this behaviour in accordance with the college’s systems and policies. Identify and report any concerns relating to safeguarding learners or related at-risk people to an appropriate person. Adhere to the college health and safety procedures and protocols on and off-site, including educational visit protocols and procedures, where necessary, and completing and updating appropriate risk assessments in a timely manner. Participate in curricular, quality, administrative or organisational meetings. Participate in external and internal marketing and admissions activities, including open evenings and learner interviews. Ensure the programme/course information you are responsible for is updated using the college database and produce suitable marketing materials. Communicate with the marketing department good news stories to maintain a high profile for your area and the college, including engaging with social media. Skills Knowledge and Expertise Essential Criteria: Degree or equivalent qualification Teaching qualification (If you are not in possession of a teaching qualification as at the date of employment, you will be required to obtain a PGCE within 2 years of this date) GCSE English & Maths at minimum Grade C or O Level equivalent Good literacy/numeracy/digital literacy skills Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills Ability to work harmoniously with learners and colleagues Ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines Excellent punctuality and ability to work flexibly Desirable Criteria: Relevant teaching experience A good understanding of relevant issues in post 16 education A proven track record of high levels of learner attainment Awareness of key performance indicators Evidence of innovative teaching and learning activities Evidence of effective tracking and monitoring of learner performance Experience of actively participating in the pastoral care of young people Welsh Language Requirements: Welsh Oracy (Listening/Speaking) - Level 0/1 Welsh Literacy (Writing/Reading) - Level 0/1 (See detailed language descriptions here) Persons are welcome to apply for posts in Welsh and applications made in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application made in English.
