ASA Recruitment’s client, a Public Sector organisation with offices in both Edinburgh and Glasgow are currently looking to recruit an Design Manager to work on a hybrid basis, for an initial 3 month contract starting ASAP on a rate of £28.15 to £32.74/hour PAYE based on experience.
Responsibilities:
1. Scoping and prioritisation of design requests
2. Client liaison at project initiation
3. Management of the production process
4. Trouble-shooting and resolving as challenges arise
5. Line-management of a permanent team of eight, plus potentially other short-term staff
6. Advice and support to senior staff across the organisation
7. Working collaboratively with other design and communications professionals across the organisation
8. Hands-on design work as required
Essential Skills & Experience:
9. Several years of managing large design teams in busy environment
10. Experience in managing end to end design production processes and in negotiating deliverables and timescales with clients
11. Experience in development of Brands and creation of brand assets
12. Experience in commissioning and managing design projects from external providers
13. Experience of working both independently and as part of a team, whilst balancing a range of competing priorities
14. Experience of leading team meetings, webinars, events and/or conferences online
15. Track record of working within project management environments, planning and organising a variety of tasks, including involvement in multiple projects and programmes of work
16. Experience communicating complex, confidential and often sensitive information with a range of staff across the organisation and with external stakeholders (both verbally and in writing)
17. Excellent understanding of Adobe Creative Cloud: InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects
18. Knowledge and understanding of accessibility requirements for UK public sector bodies
19. Strong organisational abilities
20. Ability to manage internal and external stakeholders across different levels of seniority
21. Ability to respond to confidential and sensitive situations with confidence and discretion, utilising tact, diplomacy, and persuasion skills when necessary
22. Ability to collate and produce reports and statistical information
23. Line management skills and experience including coaching and/or mentoring of team members
24. Proven expertise in using Microsoft 365, in particular Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
