The Opportunity
We have a new and exciting opportunity for an Air Quality & Climate Consultant due to an increasing climate-focused pipeline. You will join the Air Quality and Climate team during a growth phase, working on large-scale projects including climate risk and adaptation, air quality permitting, Habitats Regulations Assessment, and DMRB assessments. This role offers a chance to shape environmental projects, support business development, and mentor junior staff. The position is permanent, with flexible hybrid working options across multiple UK locations.
The role
You will support project delivery in a supportive environment with mentoring and development opportunities. Responsibilities include:
* Preparing and reviewing reports, designs, and calculations for environmental schemes.
* Conducting air quality assessments and supporting permit applications.
* Carrying out climate risk assessments and developing adaptation strategies.
* Supporting bid writing and business development.
* Mentoring junior colleagues and promoting health and safety practices.
Specific responsibilities include:
Air Quality:
* Supporting qualitative and quantitative assessments following relevant guidance.
* Developing and checking dispersion models (ADMS).
* Supporting environmental permit processes and compliance.
Climate:
* Conducting climate risk assessments using UKCP18, GIS, and other data.
* Developing climate resilience strategies and working with interdisciplinary teams.
Business Development:
* Supporting growth in air quality and climate sectors.
* Assisting in proposal and bid preparation.
Candidate requirements
* Relevant degree in science or engineering; postgraduate preferred.
* Membership or progress towards IAQM and/or IEMA.
* Knowledge of UK/EU environmental legislation and permitting processes.
* Experience with EIAs, air quality assessments, and climate data (UKCP18, HadCRUT5).
* Proficiency with ADMS, GIS, Excel; strong analytical skills.
* Project management experience; excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Innovative mindset and ability to work collaboratively.
