Teaching Assistant – Autism support

Position: Full-Time, Long-Term (Permanent opportunity available for successful candidates)
Pay Rate: £90 - £104 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: 1st September 2025

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic Teaching Assistant to join the Specialist school in Newport. This role involves providing tailored support to pupils fro 3-19 years with autism, helping them to thrive both academically and socially.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with autism and additional learning needs.
*
Assist with classroom activities and help adapt lessons to meet individual needs.
*
Encourage social interaction and positive behavior.
*
Work collaboratively with teachers and other staff members to create an inclusive learning environment.
*
Support pupils' emotional and developmental needs, fostering independence and confidence.
Ideal Candidate:
*
Previous experience supporting pupils with autism or additional learning needs is highly desirable.
*
A strong interest or experience in platforms such as Minecraft, Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer, or similar hobbies that align with the pupils' interests.
*
Sports background, or performing arts highly desirable.
*
Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting students.
*
Ability to work effectively in a team and communicate well with pupils, staff, and parents.
