Interim Assistant Hygiene Manager Location: Southall Middlesex Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 depending on experience Contract: 6-12 month interim placement Hours: 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:30 Our client is a global producer and supplier of French style bakery products including viennoiserie such as croissants and pain au chocolat alongside bread savoury items and ptisserie. Their frozen part baked and fully baked products are supplied to foodservice professionals retailers and bakers across more than 100 countries. They are currently seeking an Interim Assistant Hygiene Manager to support the site in maintaining high hygiene food safety and environmental standards across the operation. Main Purpose of the Role To support the delivery of high hygiene and environmental standards across the site while ensuring service requirements operational targets and health and safety standards are achieved. Key Responsibilities Support the management of site hygiene operations to ensure hygiene quality and cost targets are met. Promote a strong health and safety culture and ensure compliance with company policies procedures and legislation. Drive high hygiene standards across the factory floor and support site readiness for BRC audits and retailer code of practice requirements. Monitor environmental management practices and ensure waste disposal and environmental standards are maintained. Plan and manage labour requirements within the hygiene team to ensure effective staffing and performance. Identify opportunities for operational improvements efficiency and cost savings across hygiene operations. Monitor pest control activity follow up on contractor recommendations and implement corrective actions where required. Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with environmental and hygiene management systems. Work closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure industry best practice standards are followed. Support continuous improvement projects and carry out additional duties required by the Technical Manager. Skills and Experience Graduate level education or equivalent experience Minimum 5 years experience within FMCG or food manufacturing environments At least 2 years experience in a management or supervisory role including responsibility for teams and budgets Qualified to train Basic Food Hygiene Strong understanding of HACCP and COSHH requirements Proven leadership ability with experience managing and motivating teams Ability to manage a diverse workforce and communicate effectively Flexible hands on approach within a fast paced environment Strong planning organisation and workload prioritisation skills Commercial awareness and business understanding IOSH trained or experience completing health and safety risk assessments Education Qualifications and Training Essential Graduate level education or equivalent Minimum 5 years experience in FMCG or food manufacturing Minimum 2 years people management experience Qualified to train Basic Food Hygiene Knowledge of HACCP and COSHH Desirable Experience working within bakery or food production environments Additional food safety hygiene or environmental management training If this role sounds like something you would be interested in please apply below.
