Start date: ASAP Hours: 08:30- 16:00 (Monday to Friday) The School and Role We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children's Mental Health Assistant to join a specialist Post-16 SEN provision supporting young people with Autism and additional needs. This is a classroom-based role within a structured and supportive environment. Class sizes are small, allowing for a personalised approach and strong, consistent relationships with learners. The successful candidate will support pupils’ educational, social, emotional, and communication development, helping them work towards greater independence and life skills. The Role: Supporting Post-16 learners within the classroom and wider school environment Assisting with individualised learning programmes and EHCP-led targets Supporting students who are non-verbal or pre-verbal, using appropriate communication strategies Encouraging positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and social development Working closely with teaching staff and the wider SEN team The Ideal Candidate Will: Have a calm, caring, and nurturing approach Have experience supporting individuals with Autism, including non-verbal or pre-verbal learners Have relevant experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable adults within an education or SEN setting Be patient, adaptable, and responsive to the individual needs of each learner Be passionate about supporting young people at Post-16 level This is an excellent opportunity to join a specialist SEN setting where you can make a meaningful difference in a supportive and professional environment What we offer As a Childrens Mental Health Assistant and part of our team, you benefit from: Excellent daily rates paid using the PAYE system.
