Environmental Sustainability Manager (Carbon)

About the Role
You will be a key member of our Regional Civils business, partnering with project teams and clients to embed sustainability strategy into project delivery. Your influence will shape how major projects are designed and delivered, ensuring they support a net‑zero future and leave a positive legacy.
Responsibilities
* Lead the integration of environmental and carbon management into project delivery.
* Provide expert guidance to clients and project teams on reducing carbon impacts, improving resource efficiency and enhancing sustainability performance.
* Develop and implement carbon‑reduction strategies and reporting frameworks in line with industry standards and Balfour Beatty’s sustainability commitments.
* Support environmental compliance, risk management and innovation across a diverse portfolio of civil engineering projects.
* Engage with stakeholders and visit sites when required.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in environmental management within infrastructure, construction or civil engineering.
* Strong knowledge of carbon‑management frameworks (e.g., PAS 2080, GHG Protocol) and practical experience applying them.
* A track record of delivering sustainability improvements in a project or programme environment.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
* Relevant professional qualification (IEMA, CEnv, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
