General Manager – Cinema
Role Overview
As a General Manager, you will take full ownership of your cinema's performance, leading your team to deliver outstanding results. Your role is to ensure your cinema is the top choice for customers in the local market, creating a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all.
Working closely with senior leadership, you will drive business success through team development, operational excellence, strategic decision-making, and fostering a positive workplace culture. Collaboration with peers and stakeholders will be key, as you contribute ideas, share results, and implement best practices that align with our overall business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Culture
* Foster a positive, inclusive workplace culture and lead by example in delivering exceptional customer experiences.
* Set clear objectives for the management team to align with the cinema's business plan and ensure goals are effectively communicated across the team.
* Provide hands-on coaching, real-time feedback, and regular performance reviews to support team growth and development.
* Recognise and nurture high-performing employees, supporting their career progression.
* Address performance challenges proactively, ensuring regular follow-ups and improvement plans.
Team Development & Recruitment
* Identify training needs, create development plans, and align them with succession planning.
* Lead recruitment efforts, including sourcing, interviewing, and hiring new team members.
* Support wider cinema recruitment initiatives as requested by the area manager.
Operational & Financial Management
* Develop and maintain a cost-effective roster that aligns with business trading patterns.
* Oversee payroll processes and manage staff hours via the PeopleXD system.
* Analyse cinema performance and P&L, working with the area manager to determine strategic improvements.
* Ensure screen content schedules align with customer demand and demographic insights.
* Maintain high operational standards, including stock management, merchandising, and compliance with business guidelines.
Compliance & Site Management
* Ensure all legal, health & safety, and company policies are met, fostering a safe and welcoming environment.
* Oversee fire evacuation procedures, audits, screen checks, and cleaning protocols.
* Monitor maintenance needs and address any site issues promptly to maintain optimal performance.
Collaboration & Continuous Development
* Share best practices, successes, and learnings with peers to drive business improvement.
* Attend training workshops and courses to enhance business knowledge and leadership skills.
Skills & Experience Required
* Proven experience in a leadership role within a customer-facing environment.
* Strong business acumen with the ability to meet targets, analyse reports, and work at pace.
* Exceptional communication and coaching skills to empower and guide your team effectively.
* Experience in employee relations, performance management, recruitment, and payroll processes.
* Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft Office and cinema technology (e.g., tills, ticket scanners).
* A team player who is approachable, respectful, and supportive of colleagues.
* Passion for the film and cinema industry, with a commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences.
General Manager, Exeter, Salary up to £42,000 + benefits
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £37,000.00-£42,000.00 per year
