Commercial Services Manager

About the Role
This role is all about supporting the team overseeing the commercial governance of our contracts with key consultancies and contractors – a vital role in the success of our projects, and our ability to maximise returns on our budget and demonstrate value for money. You will also help set up and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and develop long-term collaborative partnership arrangements that deliver for both of us, and society.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the Commercial Assurance and Framework Management Team to provide country‑wide support to our Integrated Delivery Management teams and wider Project Management community.
* Champion effective governance and commercial assurance, achieving the very best value for money.
* Develop excellent relationships internally and externally and become an expert on contractual and commercial interpretations within a high performing team.
* Participate in incident response duties as required, supporting communities and preventing harm to the environment.
* Deliver the most sustainable outcomes on our delivery programmes, supporting local delivery hub leadership.
Experience, Skills & Behaviours Required
* A‑Level qualifications, Level 3 qualifications or equivalent.
* Skilled communicator with strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
* Stakeholder management experience.
* Strong data and document management skills.
* Commercial acumen – the ability to understand and analyse business situations, take proportionate risks, make informed decisions and deliver the most advantageous solution.
* Administration skills – strong organisation, minute taking and report drafting.
* Willingness to pursue long‑term professional qualifications (e.g. NEC training, CIPS). Confidence to ask questions to drive development.
* Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
Desirable Experience & Qualifications
* Degree or equivalent professional qualification or experience.
* Working towards status with a recognised professional body such as ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS or RICS.
* Formal training in contract management (e.g. NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).
