Head Veterinary Nurse

The opportunity
A well-established small animal practice in Barnsley is looking to appoint an experienced and motivated Head Nurse to lead its nursing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident veterinary nurse who enjoys leadership, teamwork, and maintaining high clinical and customer care standards.
The Head Nurse will play a central role in supporting, guiding, and developing the nursing team, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the practice while fostering a positive and collaborative working environment.
The ideal candidate
The practice is seeking a candidate with solid clinical experience who is:
* Confident and self-motivated
* Approachable, engaging, and supportive
* Passionate about mentoring and developing RVNs, student nurses, and VCAs
* Comfortable leading by example and supporting team performance
The role includes both clinical and leadership responsibilities, with a strong focus on team development, organisation, and maintaining excellent standards of patient care.
Working pattern:
* 4 days per week
* 9-hour shifts
* 1 in 4 weekends
* Duty nights on a rotational basis
