The Divisional data analyst will report to the Divisional Service improvement manager. Working as part of the Surgery and Anaesthetics Divisional team, the role will work closely with the Directorate teams and other data colleagues to collate, analyse, summarise and report Divisional performance data. The post holder is expected to hold sound analytical skills, be technically competent and ensure attention to detail.
Main duties of the job
This post will be key in establishing systems for the validating, extracting and analysing of activity and finance data. The post holder will prepare reports and highlight variances in activity as requested by the Divisional management team. This will include supporting the Divisional Service improvement team with data required for ongoing projects. The post holder is expected to be able to attend meetings as required, sharing the data and answering queries that may result from the analysis.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
1. To provide in depth analysis of SLAM activity against plan, to support the Divisional Team to understand trends, variances and future forecasts.
2. Work closely with the Divisional information and performance manager to understand payment by Results, HRG’s, Best Practice Tariffs and clinical coding impacts on activity & finance.
3. To support the Divisional and service improvement team with data required for ongoing Divisional service improvement projects
4. Work with information & finance colleagues to formulate accurate activity plans to inform directorate and divisional leads.
5. To ensure that reports produced are consistent with each other and of the highest quality.
6. To support the Divisional and Directorate team with annual activity planning and play a key role in supporting with the data inputting onto Trust planning templates

Essential criteria
* GCSE Maths and English at level 4 or above or equivalent level of skill
* Experience of working in an NHS data focussed role
* Proven attention to detail and ability to produce complete and accurate information
* Advanced user knowledge of Microsoft Excel
* Proven ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines
Desirable criteria
* Knowledge of the Trust’s Patient Administration System (Cerner)
* Experience of providing corporate information reports
* Experience of service improvement work
