We are seeking a caring, patient, and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive primary school in Leatherhead, starting as soon as possible. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting pupils with special educational needs and helping them achieve both academically and emotionally. The school has a strong focus on inclusion and pupil wellbeing. Staff work collaboratively to provide tailored support for pupils with a range of needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health needs. Senior leadership is supportive and ensures staff receive training, guidance, and opportunities for professional development. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and other support staff to provide targeted support for pupils either on a 1:1 basis or in small groups. You will help create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment that promotes confidence, independence, and positive behaviour. Key Responsibilities Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEN Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development Assist with the implementation of individual education plans Adapt activities and resources to meet individual learning needs Promote positive behaviour, engagement, and independence Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCo, and support staff Support pupils with personal care where required Monitor and record progress and contribute to reviews and reports Maintain a calm, safe, and inclusive learning environment Support pupils during transitions, playtimes, and school activities Ensure safeguarding and child protection procedures are followed at all times The Ideal Candidate The successful candidate will: Have experience supporting children with SEN (school or care setting) Be patient, empathetic, and resilient Have strong communication and teamwork skills Be proactive, reliable, and adaptable Show a genuine commitment to supporting pupils with additional needs Be confident working independently and as part of a team Be committed to safeguarding and pupil wellbeing The school is located in Leatherhead, with good transport links and a supportive local community.
