The role
PwC's Asset and Wealth Management (AWM) practice is the market leading AWM audit business. Our business is a national practice comprising over staff with a presence in 8 offices across the UK, and comprises both financial audit and non-audit assurance businesses.
Working in AWM will provide opportunities to gain experience working across a variety of clients including FTSE listed, global private companies, private partnerships, funds and Private Equity and Venture Capitalist backed companies. You'll work across a wide variety of industry sectors including, Real Estate, Hedge Funds, Pensions, Private Equity, traditional Asset and Wealth management, as well as technology and asset servicing businesses. This breadth of client base gives our people an unmatchable opportunity to gain deep understanding and experience across the whole AWM sector.
Key Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
1. Leading complex audit engagements by managing large, multi‑location (often international) teams from planning through to completion, overseeing complex and judgemental audit areas, ensuring high‑quality documentation, and reviewing financial statements for compliance with relevant standards.
2. Building trusted client relationships through strong people and relationship management skills, demonstrating curiosity and insight, providing appropriate challenge during audits, and clearly articulating conclusions and recommendations to senior stakeholders both verbally and in writing.
3. Collaborating across PwC by building strong connections with internal teams and specialist areas, managing specialist contributors, navigating differing viewpoints, and leading internal projects that support PwC and the wider lines of service.
4. Developing high‑performing, inclusive teams by managing financial and resource aspects of engagements with a commercial mindset, coaching and mentoring junior staff, role‑modelling PwC values, fostering an inclusive environment, and supporting individuals’ long‑term development and aspirations.
The skills and experience we’re looking for:
5. Must possess a Chartered Accountant / ACA / ACCA / ICAS qualification (or an international equivalent) or have equivalent work experience. This includes international candidates who qualify through experience in their home country;
6. A high level of experience of IFRS and/or UK GAAP and be highly skilled in using international standards on auditing;
7. Highly developed project management skills and a strong track record of managing larger or more complex audits to the highest standard from planning to completion;
8. Has the ability to communicate complex or contentious audit matters clearly and concisely in both verbal and written form to colleagues and senior client stakeholders;
9. Has the ability to offer considered points of view in client conversations around broader industry topics and provide knowledgeable challenge to senior clients in the context of an audit;
10. Takes pride in their work and in the Audit profession. Shows resilience and demonstrates dedication to self development including being agile and innovative in the digital world; and
11. Has extensive asset management experience specifically in the traditional asset and wealth management, real assets or alternatives sectors.
