Payroll Team Leader
Brentwood (Hybrid - 2 days office)
£44,000 + Discretionary Bonus
Contract: Permanent
The Role
A leadership role within a payroll bureau environment, responsible for managing a team and overseeing the delivery of payroll services to a portfolio of clients. You will act as the key escalation point while ensuring accuracy, compliance and high service standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee payroll delivery for a portfolio of clients, ensuring deadlines are met
* Supervise and manage a team, driving performance and development
* Act as escalation point for technical and client issues
* Ensure compliance with payroll legislation and internal procedures
* Monitor KPIs, profitability and service quality
* Review and approve pension auto-enrolment setups
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of payroll legislation and best practices
* Support client relationship management and service delivery
* Review team output and set clear performance objectives
The Ideal Candidate
* Strong end-to-end UK payroll experience
* Experience supervising or managing a payroll team
* Background in high-volume or multi-frequency payroll environments
* Good knowledge of payroll legislation and workplace pensions
* Strong Excel and analytical skills
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Detail-oriented with strong organisational ability
