North Middlesex University Hospital offers a 7-day General Ultrasound service with 5 on-site scanning rooms, 7 obstetrics and 2 gynaecology rooms, and limited ESWL sessions. The department is staffed by 16 sonographers working across general, obstetric, gynaecology, and lithotripsy services.
We are recruiting a sonographer to perform and report general, gynaecology and obstetric ultrasound examinations with independent reporting and contribute to continuous improvement of high-quality service delivery.
Responsibilities
* Perform and report a wide range of ultrasound examinations in general, obstetric, gynaecology and lithotripsy units.
* Operate autonomously while working within a multidisciplinary team.
* Maintain high standards of patient care in line with departmental guidelines and protocols.
* Participate in continuous professional development (CPD) and clinical audit.
* Work a flexible schedule, including weekend and evening rota, with options for compressed hours.
Qualifications
* Postgraduate Diploma in Ultrasound or equivalent.
* HCPC registration or equivalent professional registration.
* Certification of competency for Obstetric and Gynaecology, Abdominal modules in Medical Ultrasound and Nuchal Translucency (FMF).
* Experience working within the NHS, particularly in radiology, obstetrics and gynaecology.
* Experience in teaching, assessment and presentations is desirable.
Person Specification
* Comprehensive knowledge of anatomy and pathology relevant to ultrasound imaging.
* Awareness of statutory regulations related to radiology and maternity.
* Understanding of 2‑week, 6‑week and 18‑week RTT pathways as part of the 62‑day standard.
* Knowledge of FASP screening standards.
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and motivational skills.
* Proficiency with IT systems, including RIS, PACS, Datix and viewpoint.
* Ability to reflect and improve techniques following incidents.
