Our SEND Travel Enablement service plays a vital role in supporting families, schools, and transport operators to provide personalised travel arrangements that meet individual needs while delivering best value for the council. You’ll be part of a supportive team committed to improving outcomes for young people, empowering their independence, and ensuring every journey is safe, appropriate, and well managed. As the SEND Travel Enablement Lead Officer, you’ll take operational responsibility for assessing travel needs, coordinating provision, managing statutory eligibility, and responding to complex or sensitive issues. You’ll work closely with parents, schools, transport operators and internal colleagues to deliver high‑quality, child‑centred solutions, ensuring effective risk assessments, safety planning and clear communication throughout.
