Lecturer – Trade Union Studies

£40, - £48, per annum (placement on the scale is dependent on Qualifications and Experience)

Kirkcaldy Campus (travel may be required within Fife)

35 hours per week (23 hours Class Contact)

About the Role

Join our dynamic team and support candidates in achieving their learning goals by providing an engaging and effective learning experience. Contribute to the overall success of our curricular area by assisting team members and the manager with recruiting students and the evaluation of learning and teaching. Help achieve the operational and strategic objectives outlined in the College Regional Outcome Agreement

Key Responsibilities

1. Deliver Learning and Teaching activities to a broad range of learners and in a variety of educational settings.
2. Primarily teach candidates in subject areas of trade union studies which will include health and safety, union representative courses, employment law and equality. Support and mentoring will be available as required
3. Evaluate and improve teaching methods and curriculum effectiveness.
4. Collaborate effectively with colleagues to enhance team performance and curriculum quality
5. Support continuous improvement initiatives within the department
6. Maintain accurate records of learner attendance and achievement

Qualifications and Experience

7. Essential:
8. Qualified to HND/Degree (SCQF 8/9) or SVQ Level 4/5 in the relevant vocational area or Highest level qualification in the relevant discipline
9. Relevant current academic experience
10. Demonstrable experience and practiced skills following a vocational qualification
11. Driving License as Travel will be required within Fife
12. Completion of TUC Education tutor training following appointment
13. Desirable:
14. Teaching Qualification in Further Education (TQFE)
15. Broad demonstrable experience of curriculum delivery
16. Proven record of evaluative ability, to recognise areas for improvement and plan for excellence
17. Experience of education in trade unions and an awareness of current issues affecting trade unions in Scotland
