As a breast screening service actively catering to an eligible population of 175,000 within North, East, and West Birmingham, Sandwell & Walsall area, we are engaged in several key national breast trials such as Prospects and Mammo 50. The breast unit aims to expand through lateral growth, incorporating new technologies such as CESM and ABUS alongside current technologies like tomography.
We are seeking a hardworking and dedicated Advanced Practitioner to undertake interventional stereotactic procedures, join our forward-thinking breast care team, and assist in managing the Mammography service as directed by the Superintendent Radiographer. The role also involves undertaking appropriate advanced practice to agreed standards for the division and NHSBSP. Trainees may be considered on a Band 6 training contract during training.
Note: There is a requirement for the post holder to be female (Equality Act 2010/breast Screening: Programme overview).
The Advanced Practitioner - Mammographer Radiographer will perform stereotactic procedures, including biopsies, wire/tag localizations, and marker clip placements, following protocols and standards, and provide written reports after synthesizing patient history and seeking second opinions where necessary. The role involves operating within, organizing, and supervising service provision in both the Breast Assessment and mobile Mammography Units.
Responsibilities include assisting in the management of the Mammography service as directed by the Programme Manager/Superintendent Radiographers and undertaking advanced practice to standards for the division and NHSBSP.
