A leading law firm is seeking a Data Protection Manager to join their team in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring compliance with relevant regulations by implementing effective data protection measures. They will collaborate closely with the Risk Director and take the lead on all data protection matters. The ideal candidate should be capable of independently managing Data Subject Access Requests and possess a strong understanding of data protection and governance issues. Job Responsibilities:
* Ongoing updates and monitoring of the firm’s policies and procedures.
* Managing Subject Access Requests and other data requests.
* Creating data protection impact assessments.
* Managing the ongoing appointment of the EU Data Representative and the annual renewal of that service.
* Advising the firm on the data protection/PECR implications of new business initiatives and general queries.
* Managing and maintaining the firm’s Register of Processing Activities (“Data Map”) and risk assessments.
* Advising on reported data breaches.
* Identifying opportunities to enhance the protection of sensitive/higher risk data and reduce data breaches.
* Identifying trends in data breaches, bringing serious issues to the attention of the Data Compliance Officer.
* Keeping up to date with changes to domestic and international data protection laws and updating policies accordingly.
* Leading on the creation and delivery of data protection training and regular communications for all staff members and on an ad hoc basis as required.
Experience:
* Strong knowledge of data protection laws in the UK.
* Experience managing data subject access requests.
* Experience writing data focused policies and procedures.
* Experience advising on data protection breaches and issues.
* Good knowledge of international data protection laws for overseas sharing and data transfers.
* Previous experience working at law firm
