We are looking for an experienced and technically accomplished Senior Development Analyst to join a highly respected organisation specialising in high-precision gas and chemical analysis. This is a critical leadership role, ensuring scientific integrity, quality compliance, and technical excellence across accredited laboratory operations.
As a key member of the Morden leadership team, you will oversee analytical, quality and certification processes for complex and high-value products, ensuring full compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 17034, and GMP standards. You’ll act as a UKAS Approved Signatory, providing expert technical direction, leading audits, maintaining accreditation, and driving analytical innovation within a highly regulated environment.
This is a superb opportunity for a chemistry professional with deep technical expertise and experience working in accredited laboratory environments, looking to take on a senior, highly visible role within a global engineering and scientific organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as UKAS Deputy Head of Laboratory and Quality Controller, ensuring all accredited products meet ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO 17034 standards.
* Lead internal audits, oversee accreditation documentation, and support external audits with agencies such as UKAS and MHRA.
* Provide technical oversight and direction to laboratory analysts, ensuring data integrity, method validation, and compliance with quality systems.
* Support the development and implementation of new analytical methods and high-accuracy calibration products.
* Conduct staff training, competence assessments, and succession planning within the analytical team.
* Oversee equipment lifecycle management including CAPEX justification, validation, and commissioning of new analytical technologies.
* Contribute to continuous improvement, scientific innovation, and productivity initiatives across the Morden branch.
* Engage with internal and external stakeholders including NPL, UKAS, and major industrial customers.
Key Skills & Experience
* Degree in Chemistry (or related discipline) with substantial analytical and laboratory management experience.
* Strong understanding of ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 17034, and GMP compliance requirements.
* Qualified UKAS auditor with a proven background in establishing and maintaining accredited systems.
* Skilled in advanced analytical techniques (e.g. FTIR, ethanol/air analysis) and statistical methods including measurement uncertainty.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of influencing at all levels.
* Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, and problem-solving ability within technical environments.
