Admissions Lounge is a16 bedded ElectivePre-Operative Surgical Unit, with Post-Operative care for Day cases. Patientsare admitted on the day of surgery to undergo a wide range of procedures underdifferent specialities which are Thoracic, Urology, General Surgery,Colorectal, Gynaecological, Breast Surgery, Radiology and Oncology. This roleinvolves preparing patients ready for theatre, looking after post-operative daycase patients, supporting with discharging patients home and working closelywith theatre to manage the theatre lists.

Job responsibilities

Thejobholder will be actively involved in providing direct and indirectcompassionate care for patients in support of the multidisciplinary team. Thejobholder will undertake a range of delegated clinical patient care duties andcan be expected to work under direct or indirect supervision by a registeredpractitioner.

Thejobholder will assist in the overall implementation and evaluation of care aspart of the multi professional team. The jobholder is expected to plan,implement, deliver and maintain high standards of patient care. The jobholderwill be skilled in taking appropriate action(s) and acting on own initiative toachieve the planned outcome.

Thejobholder will contribute to the maintenance of an environment for effectivecare.

Thejobholder will be expected to lead a team of clinical support workers andapprentice clinical support workers.

Thejobholder will be expected to practice in accordance within Trust policies,guidelines, standards and statutory requirements and operate within definedcompetency boundaries.

Thejobholder will work within a ward, clinical department or community setting aspart of a multidisciplinary team


Person Specification


Experience

* Significant experience of working within a healthcare setting delivering personal and clinical care.
* Utilisation of planning and organisational skills
* Insight into roles responsibilities of post.
* Significant experience of working within the speciality or department.


Additional Requirements

* Good interpersonal skills
* Ability to organise and prioritise workload.
* Competent in written, electronic and verbal communication skills
* Able to fulfil Occupational Health requirements for the post (with reasonable adjustments if necessary), including clearance on blood borne viruses in compliance with Trust Policy


Qualifications

* NVQ 3 in Health and Social Care, Diploma in Health Level 3, Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 3 or equivalent experience.
* The Care Certificate or in the absence of this the jobholder must successfully attain the Care Certificate within the first 3 months of employment.
* Commitment to undergo training and education as required
* Basic skills Maths and English Level 2 (equivalent of GCSE 4-9 (A*-C)
